What this site is
SmallBusinessIdea.net is a static informational website. We publish guides and lists — like our small business ideas directory and our how to start a business walkthrough — as plain web pages. There are no user accounts, no logins, no shopping carts, and no purchases. You can read everything on this site without telling us who you are.
Information we do not collect
Because the site is static, we do not collect:
- Registration or account data — there is nothing to sign up for.
- Payment or billing information — nothing is sold on this site.
- Form submissions — the site has no forms that send data to us. If you want to reach us, you email us directly (see Contact below).
We do not build profiles of individual visitors, and we do not sell personal information.
Information collected automatically
Like nearly every website, this site is served by a hosting provider whose servers keep standard access logs. When your browser requests a page, the log entry typically includes your IP address, your browser's user agent string, the page requested, and a timestamp. These logs exist for security and operational reasons (such as detecting abuse and diagnosing outages), are retained by the hosting provider under its own policies, and are not used by us to identify individual readers.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google, to understand how the site is used in aggregate — for example, which guides are read most, how visitors arrive (search, links, direct), and roughly which country and type of device they use. This helps us decide which pages to update and which topics to cover next.
When a page loads, the Google Analytics script (served from googletagmanager.com) sets first-party cookies such as _ga and _ga_* and sends Google information such as the pages you view, the referring page, an online identifier stored in those cookies, your browser and device type, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We do not send Google your name, email address, or any other information that directly identifies you.
Google processes this data under its own terms and privacy policy; you can read how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. To opt out, you can block or delete cookies in your browser, use a content blocker, or install Google's Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Cookies
The site has no logins, preferences, or carts, so it needs no cookies to work. The only cookies set while you browse are the Google Analytics cookies described above (_ga and _ga_*, which by default expire after up to two years). You can block or delete them in your browser settings at any time; the site works exactly the same without them.
Fonts
The typeface used on this site is self-hosted: font files are served directly from smallbusinessidea.net, so viewing our pages does not cause your browser to contact a third-party font service such as Google Fonts, and no font-related data is shared with any third party.
Advertising
This site does not currently show advertising and does not use advertising cookies, ad networks, or affiliate tracking. If that ever changes, we will update this policy before any advertising goes live and describe the provider, the data involved, and your choices.
External links
Our guides — for example, the small business tools roundup — link to external websites and resources. Once you leave this site, those sites' privacy practices are their own. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any site you visit.
Children's privacy
This site publishes general-audience informational content about starting and running small businesses. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, privacy laws such as the EU's GDPR or California's CCPA may give you rights to access, correct, or delete personal data a website holds about you, and to object to certain processing. We do not hold accounts or contact details for readers; the analytics data described above is stored by Google in aggregated, pseudonymous form, and you can stop its collection at any time using the opt-out options above. Changes to this policy
If our practices change — for example, if we add a new analytics tool or advertising — we will update this page and post the new version here with a revised effective date. The "Effective date" at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
